This is the first semester project for Year 3. I looked into job availabilities around the six main towns of Stoke-on-Trent and found out that the expectation of bigger towns having more jobs available is wrong. The smaller towns have more vacancies yet people does not have the basic skills to be employed. This is a topic of discussion according to the National Survey conducted in Stoke. I plotted my findings about the job vacancies (using job search website) on to a cartesian map, with yellow circle area to indicate expectations on the amout of vacant jobs in a town, and shows how it differs to the real data.
From there I created a hub where people can exchange skills through recording/watching videos, and exchanging books or other materials inside the hub. This way people could browse through the skills that they want to learn.
As it is an installation, it could be brought to other towns and places to help the public to acquire knowledge and encourage social interactions as well.
